This tunnel-mounted torque arm is specifically designed for easy installation with a TH400 transmission into an 82-92 Camaro or Firebird (Short tail Only). The set includes a transmission crossmember and a new adjustable torque arm, replacing the factory torque arm that cannot be mounted onto the TH400 transmission tail shaft. This setup allows for a seamless bolt-in installation.
The torque arm setup removes the front mounting point from the transmission, protecting the tail shaft from damage. It comes with pivot brackets for easy instant center adjustments, crucial for improving performance on low to mid horsepower cars and reducing 60-foot times. The entire setup is constructed with high-quality materials, including CNC machined mounting plates, grade 10.9 hardware, and polyurethane bushings to minimize road noise and absorb shocks. Installation is easy and requires no welding or drilling.
The front drive shaft loop included is NHRA legal and compatible with drive shafts up to 3" in diameter.
Benefits of the torque arm setup include eliminating wheel hop and traction issues, reducing front end nose dive when braking, and allowing for on-car pinion angle adjustments. The design also features a grease-able pivot point for the front mounting, ensuring durability and adjustability.
For optimum performance, a new hardware kit is recommended for certain rear-end configurations.
