This Roto-Joint is designed to replace spherical rod ends on UMI Performance control arms for GM B-Body vehicles from 1978 to 1996. It can also be used on other brand control arms that utilize a ¾”-16 left-hand threaded rod end. A right-hand threaded version is available as part #0020.
To replace a ¾”-16 left-hand threaded rod end, simply remove the old rod end and install this Roto-Joint assembly. This product is ideal for replacing worn-out rod ends that are causing noise issues. The Roto-Joint comes fully assembled, complete with a grease fitting, jam nut, and clear zinc finish. It features a bushing width of 2.600”, 3/4”-16 right-hand threads, 2.000” of thread adjustment, and accepts a 14mm bolt.
The replacement bushing end has threads CNC machined from 4140 Chrome Moly steel, constructed from DOM tubing, and TIG welded for strength and durability. The included spanner wrench is used for adjusting and disassembling Roto-Joints in UMI Performance products. It can tighten the adjusting ring to apply more pressure to the Delrin race inside the Roto-Joint. The wrench is also used for disassembly, cleaning, inspection, and rebuilding.
UMI's Roto-Joint technology allows for 28 degrees of total rotation and unrestricted movement in the vehicle's suspension. It combines the advantages of a spherical rod end with the street-friendly characteristics of a polyurethane bushing setup. The Roto-Joint prevents suspension bind while enhancing traction and reducing 60-foot times. The chrome moly, hard chrome plated spherical ball and Delrin race are designed for wear resistance. The Delrin bushing material provides high resistance against wear and excellent tensile strength. The Roto-Joint is adjustable and 100% rebuildable, facilitating easy maintenance over time.
