The Roto-Joint is designed to replace spherical rod ends on UMI Performance control arms for 1978-1996 GM B-Body vehicles. It is also compatible with other brands of control arms that utilize a ¾”-16 right-hand threaded rod end. A left-hand threaded Roto-Joint (part # 0020L) is available as well. This bushing end is a straightforward replacement for ¾”-16 right-hand threaded rod ends and can be easily installed by removing the existing rod end and screwing in the Roto-Joint assembly.
This product is ideal for replacing worn-out rod ends or those causing excessive noise. The Roto-Joint comes fully assembled with a grease fitting, a new jam nut, and a clear zinc finish. The bushing width measures 2.600”, features ¾”-16 right-hand threads, provides 2.000” of thread adjustment, and accepts a 14mm bolt. The replacement bushing end has threads CNC machined from 4140 Chrome Moly steel, DOM tubing, and is TIG welded for superior strength and durability.
The Spanner Wrench is useful for adjusting and disassembling Roto-Joints in UMI Performance products. It tightens the adjusting ring to apply more pressure to the Delrin race inside the Roto-Joint, ensuring smooth operation. The spanner wrench is also essential for cleaning, inspecting, and rebuilding the Roto-Joint.
UMI's Roto-Joint technology offers 28 degrees of total rotation and unrestricted movement in the vehicle's suspension. It functions like a spherical rod end but is suitable for street use, similar to a polyurethane bushing setup. The chrome moly, hard chrome plated spherical ball provides wear resistance, while the CNC machined Delrin bushing allows for smooth movement. Delrin is chosen for its durability, tensile strength, and ability to retain its properties over time. The Roto-Joint is adjustable and rebuildable, ensuring long-lasting performance.
